- March 24, 2026 - Aviation Performance Solutions (APS) has named Norm “DQ” Dequier, a former Snowbirds solo pilot and senior military flight training leader, as Vice President of Flight Operations. With over 30 years of experience developing pilots across multiple nations, Dequier will lead APS’s flight operations at a time of increasing focus on real-world upset recovery capability.

Dequier brings a distinguished career in military aviation and advanced flight instruction, including service as an instructor pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force and selection as a solo pilot with the Canadian Forces Snowbirds. Throughout his career, he has held senior leadership roles responsible for flight standards, instructor development, and operational execution. This experience directly aligns with APS’s emphasis on disciplined, systemized training delivery.

In his new role, Dequier will oversee all aspects of APS flight operations, including instructor standardization, training quality, and operational performance across APS’s fleet and global training programs. His leadership will support continued advancement of APS’s integrated approach to Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT), designed to prepare pilots for the rare but critical moments that define outcomes in flight.

“Norm brings a rare combination of instructional depth, operational leadership, and credibility earned at the highest levels of aviation,” said Paul “BJ” Ransbury, CEO of APS. “He understands that effective training is not just about meeting standards, but more importantly, it’s about preparing pilots to respond correctly when it matters most. That alignment with our mission is exactly what we need as we continue to grow and serve operators worldwide.”

Dequier emphasized both the responsibility and opportunity ahead:

“After four extraordinary years leading Flight Operations, I am honored to step into the role of VP of Operations. I hold tremendous respect for the APS mission and the life-saving impact of our work. It is a privilege to serve alongside such a dedicated and highly skilled team. Together, we will continue to elevate APS and strengthen our position as the global leader in UPRT.”

As part of this transition, Randall “Random” Brooks, who previously served as EVP of Flight Operations, will continue contributing to APS through flying, mentorship, and special projects. His ongoing involvement supports continuity while enabling the next phase of operational leadership.

With Dequier’s appointment, APS continues to reinforce its commitment to training that goes beyond regulatory minimums, equipping pilots with the judgment, resilience, and core skills required to prevent or overcome aviation's number one fatal risk, Loss of Control In-flight.
